Starting sequence for negatively earth vehicles:

1. Connect RED lead to POSITIVE + terminal of BOTH vehicles batteries
2. Connect BLACK lead to NEGATIVE - terminal of the boosting battery & engine block of vehicle with FLAT battery
3. Start engine on BOOSTING vehicle & allow engine to idle normally
4. Start engine of vehicle with FLAT battery & allow engine to idle normally
5. Once engine of vehicle with FLAT battery is idling normally, turn off BOOSTING vehicle & disconnect booster cables in the reverse order.
